Support for Senior Residents

The Challenge/Opportunity:

Seniors, particularly those from marginalized communities, face disparities in access to services and opportunities for care, both in nursing homes and at home. Families struggle to care for loved ones without facing financial strain.

SOLUTION - In our first 100 days, My administration would….

• Establish a task force focused on re-establishing a dedicated senior service center in Albany.  This one-stop shopping entity would be the center of information and recreation for the senior community. This would include transportation to ensure access. 

• Offer resources for families who wish to care for seniors at home without financial burden.

• Launch the “EACH ONE TEACH ONE” initiative to connect seniors with youth, fostering intergenerational support.

• Expand Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORC)

GOAL

Ensure our seniors receive the care and respect they deserve, while preventing displacement and building stronger connections between generations.
